Internships

Internship scheme

Join our award-winning internship scheme

Whether you are an undergraduate, graduate or someone who is looking to change career paths, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and gain work experience at one of the UK’s leading charities.

We offer 12 week placements three times a year in a wide range of areas, including fundraising, marketing, retail, communications, campaigning, brand and human resources.

Our roles are based on business need, so no two internships are alike and we ensure you’ll get genuine responsibility on specific projects.

The Cancer Research UK internship scheme has been awarded by the National Council for Work Experience as one of the Best Work Experience Providers in the charitable sector.

 Benefits to you

You’ll gain valuable work experience and develop new skills while making a real difference to the charity.

You’ll also get:

  • An induction to Cancer Research UK
  • Training on CV writing and interview techniques
  • Support of a dedicated mentor who will monitor your progress and help with personal development
  • Access to our internal vacancies during your time with the charity
  • An internship reference on successful completion of your internship

Our internships are on a voluntary basis, and we will reimburse your travel expenses and lunch (up to £3 a day).

Meet some of our interns and find out about the projects they worked on.

 How to apply

The scheme runs times a year with internships starting in February, July and September. Visit our internship page for more information and to find out about the roles on offer.
